Do you have a favourite song or piece of music ? Yes, I know it’s hard to choose just one, since so many of us enjoy lots of music.
I asked my husband what his favourite song was while we were enjoying pancakes and blueberries for breakfast.
He said it was ‘Hotel California’, by the Eagles. I said that this was a confusing song. He agreed, but said he liked it anyway !
I asked him if he knew what my favourite piece of music was. He confessed that he did not.
I told him that it was ‘Ave Verum Corpus’, written by Mozart in 1791. He said that he didn’t know that piece of music.
Later, I showed my husband a YouTube video of ‘Ave Verum Corpus’, sung by the King’s College, Cambridge choir.
He liked it, and said it reminded him of when he was in a boys’ choir !
Even after 45 years of marriage, my husband and I do not know everything about each other. However, God knows all about us, and loves us all intimately. Even before we speak, God already knows what we are going to say. (Psalm 139:4)
Let us rejoice at the coming of the Lord, and let us remember why he came. He came to offer us the free gift of salvation and eternal life.

Wow! 45 years of marriage is amazing and that view is so good, I want to be right there.

Thanks, Temi ! Like you, I was a young mom working on a doctorate, and my husband helped me a lot. Ours is the most easterly house in North America, looking across the sea towards Ireland. Thanks for your kind comments.

My pleasure. What did you study?

Hi Temi. My doctorate is in Sociology. My thesis looked at the development of education in Ontario, Canada, as it evolved from being the family’s responsibility to the responsibility of the state. Only another person who has gone through the doctoral process can understand the amount of work it involves, and the determination it requires. I felt like quitting about 100 times, but my husband encouraged me to keep going. I will pray for you as you continue your studies. God has greatly blessed you with beauty, intelligence, a strong faith, and a lovely family. π€

Wow! That’s an interesting dissertation. I can imagine that such evolution has affected the Canadian society more negatively than positively. We cannot trust the State to do what’s best for our children. I am glad you did not quit. It is a blessing to have a supportive spouse!
Thank you for your compliments and encouraging words. Yes please. keep praying for me. I need it on this journey.

Yes, Temi, I so agree. We can never trust the state to do what’s best for our children. I will pray for you on your academic journey. It is a process where we depend on God to guide us, and also to help us with our time management skills, as I remember how busy those days were. God bless you. π€

That’s a nice post miss Ball.
And it has to be really nice to live right next to the ocean like that.

Hi Lee ! Just call me Sally. π€ I do appreciate the politeness that people from the southern U.S.A. show – it is very refreshing. Good manners make the world so much nicer. I enjoyed the video and pictures of Texas. And blessings to your Dad. It is a beautiful gift we are given when we can witness to our own parents.
Our house here in NL is the most easterly in North America. We are looking across the Atlantic towards Ireland. π€

Hi Sally, thank you for your encouraging words.
You know something?
Y’all live in such a unique place that no one else in the world can claim a residence like y’all have. π
And it must be nice not having to cut the grass! π

Haha, that is exactly right π€ We do have a tiny area of lawn, but it can be easily cut with a battery operated mower. Thanks for your kind comment.

checked out the mozart song you recommended – very lovely. I love a lot of music but don’t have a favorite; actually I often play nature sounds, and the songs of birds in my living room is always lovely, and I never tire of it.

Hi ! Glad you liked the music. I also love birds singing. You are fortunate to live in an area where there are beautiful birds. We have sparrows here too, they are good singers too. π€

We do have birds here I enjoy but I meant nature recordings, including loons etc. Which by the way are wonderful to see up close and hear. Do you see puffins?

Yes, I love listening to recordings of birds and nature sounds too. Birds are marvellous singers. Yes, we have funny puffins. They live on the cliffs near our house. They are hilarious to watch when they fly, they have a unique way of flapping their wings. When I see their funny faces I understand that God has a marvellous sense of humour. Puffins are here in the summer.

I would love to visit in the summer and see puffins. I love all kinds of birds, I was so happy the first time I saw pelicans.

Pelicans, wow, beautiful ! I love Newfoundland, but miss living in an area where there are more birds ( although puffins are exceptionally cute). When I was growing up, my parents had kind of a little ‘bird paradise’ at our home. We had numerous bird baths, and feeders and houses for birds, and the sounds of their singing was awesome. God blesses us in so many ways . π

Precious. My wife and I of 36 years still are amazed at the new things we learn of each other. My greatest fear is that I will not totally appreciate the gift of God that she is yo me . . .
