Has your spouse or significant other ever told you to be quiet ? My husband told me 45 years ago that he would appreciate it if I would not talk when he is driving. I agreed to his request. Driving a vehicle is very serious business, and driving is a tremendous responsibility which requires a driver’s full concentration ! We have always driven in silence, waiting to have conversations when we are not moving.
We walk around our little town, but sometimes need to drive to the city. Now that we are old, we still don’t talk while driving, but my husband also relies on me as a careful lookout, since we have moose here in Newfoundland, and they are huge ! Drivers need to be cautious, because the large animals cross the highways sometimes, especially in the morning.
As we get older, our reflexes slow somewhat. In four years my husband will need to take his driver’s license test again.
Let us pray for the grace to recognize the awesome responsibility of driving a vehicle and for protection while on the road.

Truth.

The older I get, the more I appreciate what is in Isaiah 46-Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.

We all definitely need to pray while driving, even younger people. I make this a daily practice and God is faithful. Thanks Sally for this wise post.

Our bodies change when we get older. We have to be aware of our limitations and trust God to keep us. I told my son this everyday.

My husband does not like me to talk while he is driving, except for necessary conversation; it distracts him. Except for a few speeding tickets, he is a defensive driver and at 74 has never had an accident; he takes driving very seriously. It makes long drives boring but I take a book to read, pray with Scripture and with my heart. I pray for others driving as well, that they would be alert and stay on their side of the yellow/dividing line. No prayer goes unheard. Prayer is NEVER a waste of time.

Yes, Marion, I like to pray too while my husband is driving. My husband takes driving very seriously too, as we all should. Driving is the most dangerous activity that most of us do. I also like to drive without distractions. Thanks for your comments. Yes, every prayer is heard. 🤗
