Music, the universal language, has a powerful influence on our moods and emotions. Like you, I enjoy listening to music.
Five years ago , I purchased an iTunes gift card for fifteen dollars, and the the kind man in the store installed it on my cell phone. Now I have the potential to listen to 50 million tunes ! However, I have rarely purchased any music. I usually only listen to the previews, and they are free ! Thus, I can easily switch from listening to Mozart, hymns played on harp, or ‘What a Friend We Have in Jesus’. Often I prefer instrumental music.
My iTunes app also lets me see what music is currently “trending”. This helps me see what younger generations are listening to. All generations can learn from each other.
Lately I see that the music of Billie Eilish is trending. Her latest release is “don’t smile at me”.
This perplexes me, since I love to give and receive smiles. However, the Lord reminds us that not everyone thinks as we do. Let us ask the Lord for the grace to see everyone through his eyes of compassion and love.

Amen!!

Music use to be such a huge part of my life. I still like to play an old album in the background via Amazon echo now and then.

I love all kinds of music, too. I have an ipod with about 600 songs on it that I’ve chosen. I still like to set it on “shuffle” occasionally and go from country to classic rock, to Gilbert and Sullivan, to the Beach Boys, to Motown, to worship music, to Handel’s “Messiah,” to SuperChick, to bluegrass, to … definitely keeps me entertained while working out.
I too find myself thinking about the lyrics, and if they are especially disturbing or sad, I’ll pray for people who feel that way.

So true. We don’t know what someone is going through when they have a sad countenance. We need to pray for them.

Always take into account that you don’t know what other people are going through in life

I enjoy reading your thoughts. They challenge me in ways I would have not even give it a second thought. It’s simple and yet very effective. Keep on writing
