There is a room in my house that I almost never enter. It is my husband’s television viewing room. I try to follow Paul’s advice in Philippeans 4:8, which tells us to think about what is honorable, just, pure, etc. Since most T.V. programming doesn’t fit these categories, I avoid it.
This week I was sneaking past the T.V. room and I was drawn in by the shocking screen images of Notre Dame church, in France, on fire. I sat, feeling stressed for about an hour. I immediately regretted exposing myself to these images, especially since it is Holy Week.
What we choose to look at determines our feelings, moods, and our closeness to Jesus. May the Lord grant us the grace to carefully monitor what we will allow to enter our minds through our eyes.
