Are you grateful for the things that God, in his mercy, has cured you of ? I was cured of consumerism when we took truckloads of our precious possessions to the garbage dump and moved to rural Newfoundland. There are no temptations to over-consume here. Our main shopping centre is called Riffs.
Under one windowless roof, the store carries everything from candy to refrigerators. I don’t go there. If I truly need something, I will order it online, from the comfort of my chair overlooking the sea. My friend Mike, working for a delivery company, will bring it to me, and I thank him for that. For smaller items, I can walk 1,500 steps ( yes, I counted them!) to the local post office to pick up my purchases. Jesus definitely did not enjoy shopping as a hobby. The servant is never greater than the Master.
