Yes, it happened. I was assaulted at Church last Saturday evening. Traditionally, Catholics are taught that the time before Mass is a sacred time. Respecting this tradition, I sat quietly in the pew, praying before the Mass began. My eyes were closed. Due to priest shortage, we sometimes have Mass on Saturday evenings , and pretend that it is Sunday.
I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. Then, I felt myself being hit over the head with a thick pile of papers ! Someone wasn’t following the rule to sit and pray quietly before Mass !
My instinct kicked in, and I rose to my feet and told the individual that what he had just done, in this sacred space , is considered assault. He offered an apology of sorts.
After witnessing the dueling sacristans, and then physically being assaulted at Mass, I am no longer able to attend Mass at the little chapel by the sea.
At the moment, the church is being purified. Clergy abuse has been rampant. I did not, however, expect to be assaulted by another parishioner !
Lord, have mercy. Christ have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
So sorry this happened!

Thanks for the condolences❤ However, perhaps it was God’s message to me. I left the Catholic Church that day. Now I identify simply as Christian. 🤗

I had a similar experience with a different church. We also ended up leaving.

Unfortunately, many of us have been through these unfortunate things. Let’s always ask for the grace to point others towards the Lord. And also let’s pray for the grace to forgive those who have wounded us so deeply.
