Have you ever had moments in life when you are sure that God is calling you to do something ? We experienced this when we moved to Newfoundland. Neither of us had ever been to this spectacular province, we had only seen pictures of it. Newfoundlanders have the well deserved reputation of being the kindest and friendliest people in the world . And, they are !
Within several months , we had divested ourselves of our materialism. We sold our house, sold some possessions, gave other things away, and took many truckloads of what we had considered our ” precious possessions” to the garbage dump.
Now, our Christianity felt truly authentic. The Lord tells us that we cannot serve both God and mammon. We have to decide ! We decided to trust God completely.
Christ had no possessions, and when we got rid of ours , we felt free to follow Him more fully. We made a decision to trust and obey Him. “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way, to be perfect in Jesus, than to trust and obey.”
A few weeks later, having packed our SUV with clothes, and basic essentials, we headed East, to Newfoundland.
